Shield Final Victory for U11 Pumas

A fantastic Shield Final victory for the U11 Pumas!

Pumas were looking hungry for the win from the first whistle against a strong opposition. Joey and Ethan were linking up really well early in the first half and together created several great chances for each other. But it was against the run of play, and after a brief lapse in concentration, that the Pumas conceded.

The Pumas stayed calm and they continued to probe with only the keeper and the frame of the goal keeping them out. Eventually it was a great strike from distance from Oli that flew into the roof of the net and levelled the scores at the Half-Time break.

With Thomas roaring the team on from the back and with Otis, Callum, Lewis and Phoenix defending with confidence the opposition didn’t get another chance.

Both Ewan and Jack anchored the midfield superbly and kept the Pumas on the front foot throughout.

Early in the second half the tenacity and quick feet of Joey worked an opening and Ethan was on hand to poke the Pumas into a 2-1 lead.

A high press by Henry, Oli, Ethan and Joey meant the Pumas kept the pressure on and more chances came. A perfectly weighted corner by Henry was met by the head of Phoenix who powered it into the corner of the net. Shortly after, the result was secured. Oli showed some composure in the box and slotted it into the corner for his second goal and the Pumas fourth of the game.

There were Man of the match performances from all 11 of the boys and a Shield Final win to be proud of.

The Pumas celebrated in style at the final whistle as the pictures show.
